Diary of two Scholars
Week 01
Heiley
I would like to thank the Anita Miles Foundation for their very generous summer scholarship in the UK. It is a special experience for me to improve my cricket skills and broaden my views of the world.
In the first week, I met Naomi who is my teammate at Cove Cricket Club. She has been warm and welcoming, helping me Integrate into the club and culture.
I am also excited to have the sessions with the coaches of Southern Vipers, Charlotte Edwards, Ian Cozy, and Adam Carty. They have already given me valuable guidance and helped me to develop my skills. I hope I can continue to make improvements over the course of the summer

I'm very excited to be given the chance to come to the UK and play cricket. The UK is the home of cricket and thanks to the Anita Miles Foundation granting me a scholarship for the 2022 season, I believe I will benefit a lot from playing cricket here.
The first practice was at the Ageas Bowl with one of the UK Regional teams, the Southern Vipers. Their training is of high quality and intensity. It is not only the coaches but the players who also have a lot of knowledge and experience to share.
In addition to training with the Vipers team, I am also play for St.Cross Symondians Cricket Club in Winchester. It is a lovely club, and the people here are very kind and helpful. They took the time to drive to pick me up and take me to the club and helped me learn how to use the subway here, so I got acquainted very quickly.
The first week was a busy week getting settled in, meeting new people, and seeing different grounds. I’m looking forward to the rest of the summer!
